What is The Devil's Therapy?

The Devil’s Therapy: from Hypnosis to Healing is a series of books about healing with the mind. It is a complete system of tools and techniques for the hypnosis professional. It’s what I needed when I first started to practice after getting certified as a hypnotherapist.

Yah, but … Why “the devil”?

isolated hand, threeThree reasons.

First, according to some, hypnotism is ‘the work of the devil.’

If what we resist persists then, I figure, why fight it?

Second, anything that runs counter-culture has traditionally been viewed as the work of the devil.

Take bloodletting, for instance. In Mesmer’s time, bloodletting was the required treatment for most medical conditions!  And, for many patients, the resulting cure was death.

Finally, the first module employs a Grimm’s Fairy Tale, The Devil’s Grimy Brother, to illustrate the principle theories and systematic approach of regression Hypnotherapy.

The Devil’s Therapy is all about the WHY behind the HOW to.  So it starts to make sense that you do ‘this’ before you do that.  And you don’t do ‘that’ until certain criteria are met.

Who is ‘The Devil’s Therapy’ for?

Initially it was written for people like me – regression-to-cause hypnosis practitioners who:

  • Have gone beyond basic certification.
  • Have some experience in practice and a firm handle on the basics.
  • Want to go beyond relaxation techniques. Choices

Omni-grads love it!

5-PATHer’s love it!

Regression Hypnotherapy Boot Campers love it!

I’m confident you’ll love it too!

Since publishing the series, I have discovered that the Devil’s Therapy is also appreciated by EFT practitioners, as well as psychologists, counselors, social workers, and other health professionals who have some hypnosis training and want to employ a deeper approach. So, the Devil’s Therapy: from Hypnosis to Healing is for healers who work with the mind.

Didn’t my hypnosis training already cover all this?

iStock_000007516966XSmallThe minimum requirement for certification with the National Guild of Hypnotists is 160 classroom hours. Some certifying bodies require as few as 60 hour; others require 350. So your training may or may not have provided you with the necessary foundation for healing work.

What many ‘Hypnovices’ don’t realize is that basic certification is like a learner’s license. There’s always more to learn – so ongoing education is a must.

I stopped counting after 1,500 hours in the classroom….

Which brings me to another problem – money.

Let’s face it – it’s expensive to do the kind of training I’ve had to do to find all the answers I was after. I have never bemoaned putting out $1,000 for a training – that’s going to pay for itself ten-fold – but add up the cost of airfare, hotel, car rental, meals, and time off work and you’re looking at some substantial coin.

Not everyone can afford to do that.

The next best option is to read. I’m a voracious reader. In fact, before going into hypnosis I owned a self-help bookstore – just so I could feed my habit.

The Devil’s Therapy is obviously a super-affordable way to increase your knowledge and skill.

Plus you can save yourself the headache of all the trial and error that goes into trying to figure out what actually works! Each of the 9 modules goes through a specific stage or aspect of the healing process in detail. It covers everything from how to manage office paperwork; to facilitating an intake; to conditioning your client for deep emotional release work; to locating the cause of an issue; to achieving authentic forgiveness; testing the results; and polishing techniques. So you can read a section and apply it. Then read another section and apply that. And you can earn while you learn.

There are even self-healing techniques included.

What makes The Devil’s Therapy unique from other approaches?

1. The WHY.

guyheadquestionsWhen a hypnotist doesn’t know what to do next it’s because they don’t understand “THE WHY”.  This can result in a lack of confidence and an avoidance of deeper work like releasing emotions and regression which lead to healing. And it can prevent you from taking on new clients – which can seriously limit how much money you’re making.

The Devil’s Therapy: from Hypnosis to Healing all about ‘the WHY.’

Since 2000 I have engaged in ongoing study.  Believe, me, I was taught lots of processes and protocols. Lots of ‘how to’.  But very little WHY. And THAT, in my opinion, is a problem.

When you understand the WHY, you automatically know what to do, when to do it, and how.  Do you think having that level of comprehension might increase your level of confidence?

I do!

2. Organic Approach.

tree green fresh in female handOur clients are not machines.  We don’t just pop open the hood, diagnose a mechanical problem, and then calculate how many hours of therapy or number of sessions it’s going to take to “fix” it.

Our clients are living, breathing organisms inhabited by an intelligent energy that, I believe, is intrinsically loving.

I also believe that when we get disconnected from this Core Energy we start experiencing problems. The greater the alienation from self, the worse the symptoms get.

No two people are alike.  Even twins who share the same family system have unique histories.   That’s because WHAT we are – these energetic beings of Love – and WHO we are, routinely come into conflict.

Who we THINK we are was learned.  And learning is based on individual experience.  One person loves dogs; another has panic attacks around them.  You say poh-tay-toe, I say poh-tah-toe.

Most of us learned in childhood to avoid feeling our feelings. As a result, this got carried over into our professional training.  So few of us were taught how to work with feelings.

Feelings and memories are the language of the subconscious mind. So if all you’re doing is direct suggestion, all you’re doing is telling the subconscious what YOU want before finding out what IT wants.

Doing the deeper work of healing with hypnosis requires that you work with the subconscious mind.  You’ll find it’s a much more organic approach.  It’s also much more respectful and produces lasting results.

We have to become more conscious of our feeling world. By learning how to identify the ‘emotional baggage’ and manage our feeling-world reactions, we can view life based on current information instead of being held captive by our past.” – Doc Childre

3. Universal Steps.

iStock_000014863997XSmallI use a systematic approach based on a Universal 4-step healing system.  Because it’s universal, it applies to every stage of the healing process.  If you’re a learner who thrives on structure you’ll love having it all laid out for you, step-by-step. And you’ll get it. Because everything in nature operates in cycles.

4. Dreams.

image013What really makes the Devil’s Therapy unique is DREAMS.  In fact, dream work has become the core of my work as a Hypnotherapist!

I have been actively doing dream work for over 25 years.  Dream working has given me a unique perspective on healing with hypnosis.

I believe that, as Hypnosis professionals, we need to become adept at working with a fluid system.  That’s what the subconscious mind is.  It’s like the ocean.  You can’t get a wrench around it.  But you can dive into it, you can let yourself feel it, you can learn from it, get more comfortable with its depths, and maybe even discover lost treasures!

Working with dreams taught me to be more fluid and adapt to the client.  And what I discovered is – Hypnotherapy is dream work.

This understanding will put legs under your practice!

Dream Healing can help make you a better Hypnotherapist because it lays the foundation for practically everything we do as healers working with hypnosis.
